Amb. Dr. Ronen Hoffman, President, EIS Council, USA

Ambassador Ronen Hoffman, Ph.D., currently serves as President of the EIS (Electric Infrastructure Security) Council, a unique NGO with leading teams in Israel and the United States, dedicated to advancing resilience and continuity for the United States, Israel, and other friendly nations confronting potential large-scale and emerging threats.

EIS Council’s  mission is to foster collaboration, communication and understanding across governments, industry, and civil society to enhance resilience against infrastructure failures that could threaten human survival. 

Ambassador Hoffman began his public-service career as Information Officer at the Israeli Consulate in Atlanta and later served as a personal aide to the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin during the 1992 elections. In the 1990s, he was a member and coordinator of the Israeli delegation to the peace negotiations with Syria, serving under both Prime Minister Rabin and Prime Minister Ehud Barak.

In 1997, Dr. Hoffman co-founded the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) at Reichman University and served as its first General Director, helping establish one of the world’s leading academic and policy centers in the field of counterterrorism.

Most recently, he served as Israel’s Ambassador to Canada (2021–2023), where he worked to strengthen bilateral relations and expand strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. Hoffman earned his Ph.D. from the Department of War Studies at King’s College London in 1999. He later spent many years as a lecturer at Reichman University, teaching courses in Foreign Affairs, Diplomacy, and Political Psychology. In 2012, he joined the newly formed Yesh Atid party and was elected to the 19th Knesset, where he served on the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and chaired the Subcommittee on Foreign Policy and Public Diplomacy.
