    Why partnering with us?

Resilient societies are an integral part of Imperial College London’s academic strategy. Ranked 6th in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2024, Imperial has a world-leading research program covering critical infrastructure resilience, climate adaptation, cyber security and resilience, supply chain resilience, and energy resilience, among other topics.

Imperial College London has a global reputation for excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and enterprise in science, engineering, business, and medicine, attracting 22,500 students and 8,000 staff of the highest international quality. Imperial has over 200,000 alumni working as leaders globally across academia, government, and industry.

Innovative research at the College explores the interface between science, medicine, engineering and business, delivering practical solutions that improve the quality of life and the environment, underpinned by a dynamic enterprise culture. Since its foundation in 1907, Imperial’s contributions to society have included the discovery of penicillin, the development of holography, and the foundation of fiber optics.

Imperial’s academic strategy is focused on building societies that are smart, sustainable, resilient, and healthy. The strategy is designed to promote creative thought and innovative technologies to make infrastructure development more robust and adaptable to natural and man-made disasters.

It encourages developing new smart technologies using artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, data sciences, and robotics to understand better how these will transform lives, environments, and challenges these may present. Building a greater awareness of the importance of sustainability, resource conservation, and preservation of natural ecosystems is part of this strategy, as are considerations for creating and using technology for improving the health and well-being of society and combating disease.

The Electric Infrastructure Security (EIS) Council is a US-based, international, nonprofit, nongovernmental research and public policy analysis NGO focused on hosting and developing plans and capabilities that will be essential to societal resilience and continuity in disaster scenarios of any scale, including extreme Black Sky scenarios (long-duration outages).

EIS Council organizes and plans high-level, multi-sector resilience policy and technology research, development, planning, and implementation, working with infrastructure and governmental leaders, scientists, and researchers from across the US and worldwide.

EIS Council is at the forefront of fostering global preparedness for large-scale catastrophes. Some of EIS’s partners include academia and research centers such as Cambridge Infrastructure Resilience Group (CIRG), Imperial College London, and RAND. Government agencies worldwide include FERC, NERC, TVA, the UK National Preparedness Commission, and the Israel Ministry of Energy. In addition, leaders partner in the electrical sectors such as EEI (Edison Electric Institute), Dominion Energy, and PJM.

EIS Council organizes and plans high-level multi-sector leadership resilience events. Participants at such events have included multiple UK Ministers of State for Defense and Minister of State for Security, The US Secretary of Energy, Multiple Chairs of the U.S. Secretaries of Energy, US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, US Assistant Secretaries of Defense, and CEOs and other senior infrastructure corporate executives from the UK, US, Israel, and EU nations.

EIS holds webinars and yearly summits to access the knowledge of its community, which comprises more than 10,000 professionals.
